yea i have givden it some thouht, im on the fence as it goes away from OEM look quite alot, but its still something to consider

Stick to the mk3 dash! 
The only thing im not a fan of is the gauge in the blower vent.
I personally would have had 3 gauges (boost,oil/water temp) where the heater controls are and moved the controls to the glove box.

I spotted a dial housing plate for the centre console on the German eBay a few days ago, looked pretty good and OEM.
