That's just it really isn't it. If you're building a top spec race car and everything is going to help win then you will do everything you can, but for everyday road use it isn't going to make much difference.

yep totaly mate.. 100% agree with you

too many people get hung up on heat soak and induction kits and read into too much crap on forums... Next thing you know everybody is a expert

Lol at Shaun

I used to think same as you Brad and to a certain extent you are correct, in that during normal driving it dont make much difference, similar to having a passenger and a bit of luggage say.
Changed my views when I took car to Santa Pod. First run was done in near freezing conditions and subsequent runs got slower with my reaction times improving! (Air temp rose conciderably)
Plus doing many RR days I see the difference a cold day gives.

On 150 bhp it can make 1 to 2 bhp difference so the higher you go the greater the difference will be.
I am going to try and get a cold air only feed on mine.

Thier was a video of its first ever time running , its on youtube, jsut search F17BAD and it will come up

will get some videos of the complete car done when i get the chance,

Len, my car isnt a track car and a rolling road should have a huge fan blowing on the car.. its not like real world driving.

If its a warm day, a cold air feed wont help you unless your on the motorway or doing fast speeds ..

All you are doing is worrying about things you cant change, the way i see it is, iv got the filter in direct air so thats good enough for me. Its a improvement of the standard location no end anyhow

Regarding remap, end of next month i think :-)

Kells, you're failing. You're building the car how you want it, not how everyone else would have it. Cheek of it!

Just to add more fuel to the heat soak fire:

On a turbo car, heat soak is less important than restriction to flow.

The air is heated when it goes through the turbo anyway, and the intercooler reduces the inlet temperatures from there.

Having a massive filter means no restriction to air flow. If the filter was tiny but completely isolated from hot air, you'd lose tonnes of power compared to a big filter with some hot air.

Very good point.... hence the need for an intercooler.
