Car is mk6 golf 1.4 tsi, engine code CAXA.
Car will not start, and turns over extremely fast.
I suspect the chain, guides or tensioner has failed...
Any suggestions?

If it turns over fast. STOP.
Its not a good sign.
Im guessing but it may have even snapped the chain.
Further inspection would be needed.

Thanks for the reply.
Yep, didn’t keep turning it over... as soon as it sounded wrong, put VAG com on it, and it came up with the codes.
The problem is, the light was on before, and my bro’s mechanic said it came up with crankshaft sensor, when the faults were read.. I think he’s got it wrong.
The light was turned off... but came straight back on again, the car was driven 30 miles home. It was down on power on the way home, but could of just been limp mode.
The crankshaft sensor was replaced, that’s when it turned over really quick.
What’s the chances of damage internally?

Only way is get someone too look at it really. Sadly.
To check the chain and timing is ok.
To check for compression,
To put a camera down into the head and see whats happened.
It could be a number of things.
Worst case and its My wild guess and its only a guess mind and could be way way off. is the chain had jumped, it varied the valve timing to keep it running, (causing light to come on as you say and reduced power) then next time its snapped the chain. (Resulting in turning over fast)
So maybe bent valves or head damage. Who knows without someone looking at it, a camera inspection and maybe a dismantal. Fingers crossed im wrong and its something simple
