Nokia Lumia 920 & 820
« on: 05 September 2012, 16:34 »
Just watched the live launch from NYC of the Lumia.  Look very impressive, particularly the camera with its floating image stabilisation.  Ability to keep the lens open for longer to let more light in. Showed some night shots that were pretty amazing.

Showed an app "Smart Shoot" where they took a picture in an art gallery with people obstructing the bloke in frame, then deleted everything that was moving. Very handy.

LTE and wireless charging as standard.

As demonstrated you can use the touchscreen whilst wearing gloves (Ski mits)

- 25% brighter than any other screen. It's 1280x760 display.
- fasted LCD display ever shipped on a smartphone. 4.5"

All about "lenses", basically apps that combines with the camera/video, like augmented reality navigation.

Addendum:

Just made available, full specs:

Didn't get to watch the whole shebang but the Lumia 920 definitely floats my boat, a pixel density of 332 on a 4.5" screen is fricken amazing

I also like how the Nokia people were shuttling the press off to the Motorola event in a big bright cyan coach with I <3 NOKIA on the side

No date yet, most likely end of October / early November as with all Windows 8 devices
