PP Brake Kit Retrofit
« on: 29 April 2021, 10:25 »
Just out of curiosity has anyone retrofitted Mk7 PP front brakes to their non-pp GTI? Worthy upgrade or no?

considered it a few times. Not that there's anything fundamentally wrong with the "standard" GTI's brake for the power it has, but more for looks. With 19" Brescia alloys the brakes are quite a bit on show and I always though having the slightly bigger discs and nicer callipers would look really good.

There is a guy on eBay that I've been watching for some time that has brand new complete set ups (2 PP callipers, brand new discs, new backing plates and new pads) for £599 - was very tempting.

Yeah my thoughts exactly, been checking my local auto breakers to see if they ever have any for sale but sadly not luck as of yet

If you wanted to spend time effort and money, wouldn't an actual proper set of brakes be a better bet? Something lighter and stoppier? Your car is going to be modified, the insurance company aren't going to ask whether its a small brake upgrade or a big one...

Not worth it....as its still a heavy single piston sliding fist caliper..

Using the same 340mm disc you can fit the Audi TT-S ATE brand 4pots basically straight bolt on as its all MQB platform

...or.....

Using either the same 340mm disc or the MK5/6 Golf R 345mm disc you can use the Porsche Macan Brembo brand 4pot calipers...
