You would be better of getting a plugin chip box which you can unplug when it goes to the dealer and it doesn't change the vehicle ecu. Have a read at DTUK and select your model and engine.

Interesting, I grew up knowing Mr DTUK as he use to live next to my garage/workshop but not spoke to him for years, I have no idea how good or bad his products are or what his knowledge is like on car tunning but he is a genuine bloke into his new cars.

Thats because while its under the 3 year VW warranty any chipped ecu's are logged in the ecu so if you went back with a warranty problem they can check if its been chipped and void the warranty.

Thank you kindly! So I think as it's a company car I can pretty much say goodbye to that idea... It's still quick enough for me! Dread to think of tyre bills with even more torque.. Heh

No problem guys I only say what I read though you can't always believe everything you read. DTUK mustant be the only company that do plugin boxes Google it as they aren't cheap.

REVO has a dealer only 5 miles away from me and at 199PS for £350.10 or 210PS for the stage 2 at £395.10 its worth considering in the future. I'm wondering if you would notice 11PS for another £45? Though the price doesn't bother me its the reliability.

Now I've also read that the GTD will chip alot more power but the clutch and transmission won't take it.  First they need to get rid of is the DMF thats more trouble than its worth.

A. How many people on here have had their warranty voided?

I'll guess at none as you can't just void a warranty in the EU - see below

B. How many people on here have had a plug in box on a late model ECU ie EDC17 that's been dyno'd to prove quoted figures.....

I'll guess none as the latest EDC works out for itself that a box as been fitted and reduces power output, I'm happy to prove this on my Dyno

C. DMF…..(dual mass flywheel)

DMF not a problem if torque limiter is modified correctly........ in fact, ALL DSG cars have additional torque limiter in TCU which won't allow too much torque no matter what u do with mapping in ECU ;-)

A good custom map can produce more power at the top end of the rpm range but without increasing peak torque (too much peak torque is what will kill a DMF)

In the main this is based my own experience not what I've read except the EU warranty bit as I've read up on that extensively due to my day job

Using a remapping solution, I got the 0-60 from 8.5 secs down to 7.4 secs (average using racelogic timing gear) and 167 bhp to 205 bhp (average using Dyno Dynamics rolling road) in standard form by the way

Ecu has to be removed on most GTD's so no issues with the car "knowing" it's been done and no flash counters to erase, if done carefully you can't tell the ecu has been apart either, until you drive it that is

Well I would say the DTUK do the plugin box for the 170PS. The advantage of the plugin box is it can't be detected by the ecu there if its going into the dealers for warranty work you just unplug it. They do a Stage 2 as well.

Revo do it but that rewrites the ecu chips which is detectable.
