« on: 08 January 2011, 18:11 »
So which is the best gauge to use on the dash oil or Temp when warming up the GTD engine ? I have been useing the oil gauge on the MFDU ?

So which is the best one, and at what point can you put your foot down?  :undecided:

Oil is the best and normally the slowest to rise. I always used it in the Mk1 GTI and never understood why they took it off later cars and am glad they put it back on the mk6.

Oil needs to be up to an ideal temperature before you start thrashing it to minimise engine wear though I suspect these new-fang-dangled oils do a good job of preventing wear

I tend to stick below 2500pm and no more than 50% throttle until the coolant temp is up to 90 and then start apply a little bit more revs and throttle until the oil is up to temp

Then I give it a damn good thrashing

Wouldn't be such a problem for the turbo, the rest of your engine however....
