Colour change by when?

I have ordered a GTi, it is due in January.  I ended up getting my dealer to negotiate the car from anoher dealer as I couldn't afford to wait toplace a new order.  I was holding out for a Candy White GTi but could only get hold of a Red one with the wheels that I wanted.  Reading other posts I see folk talking about changing the colour from that originally specified.  As far as I am aware the car is as yet unbuilt, I am wondering whether I could change the colour or whether its too late.  Can anyone advise?

I was also thinking about colors when the car was already ordered. Changed from black to white. Dealer said it is no problem but every change in specs would push the delivery time forward. I believe he said that I still could change color 2 weeks before manufacturing time.
