Was on the look out for an r32 front bumper but this came up for cheap so I thought why not, something a bit different and thought it would go nicely with the fmic.

Believe it or not I still had to hack at the inside of it and cut some of the grills either side to allow for the pipework!

Got in the car today and noticed a crack in the front windscreen about 2" long

Luckily managed to get someone to come and fit a new one the next day for £130 so wasnt as bad as I was expecting.

Right, was gonna book the car in at r-tech but something else came up... basically I bought an already remapped ecu with same part number as mine, it was mapped to around 240bhp. So went to a revo dealer to get it coded in and all went well apart from my spark plugs needed changing so had a set of iridium fitted. The lad at revo said i was getting about 238 bhp so I was quite chuffed. On the journey home I was suprized at how quick the car is now and theres a lot more torque... until I realised that whenever I booted it = misfire.

Anyway the gf's dad said it was probably coil pack so I changed all four and problem solved.

Really happy with the power only thing is it struggles a bit getting traction

So engine performance is pretty much where i want it to be (for now)! next up its handling and brakes and then styling. I bought some 312mm calipers and carriers from a seat leon and just need to get the discs and pads now, unsure what discs to go for tho  :undecided:

My centre console turned up, not the best condition but for £5 can't complain...
So as it was out of the car thought I might as well have a go at carbon fibre wrapping the ashtray.

bumper off

(http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x388/azzsmith/SAM_2285_zps31f2e3c7.jpg) (http://s1179.photobucket.com/user/azzsmith/media/SAM_2285_zps31f2e3c7.jpg.html)

Gonna need to move the cooler and pipework up to get old bumper back on.
Title: Re: Mr and Mrs Smith's Black Magic
Post by: azzsmith on 22 April 2013, 16:27
All moved up, had to cut quite a bit more out of the crash bar.

(http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x388/azzsmith/SAM_2287_zpsf300fb93.jpg) (http://s1179.photobucket.com/user/azzsmith/media/SAM_2287_zpsf300fb93.jpg.html)

tested the standard bumper for fitment and it was no where near going on over front mount, sooo... had to cut away a LOT of the inside of the bumper and also loads of the grills and it still dont fit that well.
Here's how much I had to cut.

(http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x388/azzsmith/SAM_2289_zps57cb5f30.jpg) (http://s1179.photobucket.com/user/azzsmith/media/SAM_2289_zps57cb5f30.jpg.html)

(http://i1179.photobucket.com/albums/x388/azzsmith/SAM_2291_zps7ddadcb5.jpg) (http://s1179.photobucket.com/user/azzsmith/media/SAM_2291_zps7ddadcb5.jpg.html)

So after all that spending the whole weekend trying to fit it nice think im gonna be on the look out for an r32 front so if anyones got one for sale preferably in black magic pm me!!
I'll take a pic of it on the car if I can soon.

Well now after tinkering with pipework think I have a boost leak (or at least thats what it sounds like) gonna have to have a look, think the bumper is slightly squashing the pipes that come out the core

Right, havn't done much to the car in ages but seem to have got the motivation back now so have ordered a couple of bits. Meanwhile whilst im waiting for them i'v decided to paint the rocker cover as I think it lets the engine bay down a bit.

It was supposed to be black but seems more grey to me... maybe it neesd some laquer??

Anyway sanded it all down and repaired the cracks. The crack at the top was from where someone had put the plastic insert in for debadging and used the wrong filler so it had cracked. Took that bit out and redone it. After primer...

At a bit of a dead end at the mo, car feels completely flat in gears 3,4 and 5th at low revs... tried changing back to the standard air box and its still the same. Gonna get a new fuel filter and clean spark plugs as they'v done less than 2000 miles.  Thinking about taking the car up to r-tech this winter to get them to custom remap.

Ok so we decided that we would refurbish the dishes on the alloys as they have some corrosion and curbing, the centres are pretty much immaculate so they will be left alone.

One alloy before refurb

My rear brakes are sticking on constantly so me dads gonna have a look for me today, mite need to change calipers in which case I mite as well upgrade the rears as I need new discs and pads anyway... we will see.

dogbone is polybushed now and there is much less engine movement so hopefully will cure my turbo reducer popping off problem
