What have you done to your MK 7 today ?

Mk7 facelift with front assist, sign recognition, rain sensor, ALG, TJA, light assist, lane guidance and that's only the front 😂😂😂
They said they have screens for all the others just not this one (maybe coz I'm "special" 😂) I did point to one in the book that looked like mine but he said it's for a mk7

I know that if you have light assist (auto high beam in an Audi) it does need re-calibrating after a screen replacement. Have had Auto Glass on trying to arrange it for our A6, following screen change over the summer.

My CC had most of that and it cost(not me) £650 to be recalibrated after a windscreen change.

I had the old HBA on my Mk7 and that never needed anything changing after a windscreen swap out... maybe the lane assist camera is more sensitive?

None of the cameras actually touch the screen so why they need calibrating is a mystery. Sounds like just more BS to fleece customers and increase insurance costs!!

Maybe it's because all glass has deformation and if that is in front of the camera it can affect it, but I dunno

You replace one screen with another that should have exactly the same specifications so why does it need calibrating. The windscreen should be fitted perfectly so therefore no different to the original. Would be interesting to find out the truth on this.

I think it's to do with MAY affect safety systems, rather than it does, and these systems are part of the NCAP rating, I suspect it's just a check really, so if you get involved in a crash the insurance can't make the screen fitting company liable

As much as I love the R I have decided I don’t need all the performance in the real world and I don’t regret having it but ordered a Mk7.5 GTi Performance DSG 5dr and ticked a fair few options boxes ✅
