It's a costly option (as comes as a 3 piece set), but by far the best thing I've found for cleaning a honeycomb grill is the smallest woollie of a set of Wheel Woollies.  http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wheels-and-tyres/wheel-woolies-wheel-brush-kit/prod_1037.html

It's just the perfect size for getting into the diamonds.  Worked an absolute treat on the honeycomb of my Mk6, the only bits it couldn't fit fully in were the partial diamonds at the edges, but since the diamonds are bigger on a Mk7 should work even better.  You can get it all the way into each diamond and rotate it so it properly cleans each one. Doesn't take long either, just a quick spin in each and job done!

As said, not cheap, but all 3 sizes in the set are brilliant for a multitude of cleaning jobs on the car - wheels, tailpipes, fog lights, grill, diffuser, number plates....etc, so money very well spent IMO.  I wouldn't be without mine.

Before WW I have used a soft child's toothbrush and your method of finger in a microfibre, but a bit hit and miss.

Cheers Neil. Fingers crossed the weather plays ball the weekend and I'll give them a run out.

Nice detailing brushes.  I use Valet Pro ones but these look great.

Oh, that's not good. Duff one maybe.  Mine are over 3 years old and still going strong, though granted they don't get used every week.
