Everytime I look up my car, it seems to come back with this description
Volkswagen Golf GTD TDI S-A
Does anyone know what the S-A bit is?

Not a UK model designation?

Hahaha Loving some of those answers
I think that 'Semi-Automatic' wins though - that would make sense

south african import?
right hand drive. inferior gearbox and different spec to uk cars.
they are cheaper but not worth it.
-
Definitely does not stand for ZA import....
It's the DSG it refers to. Mine says it too, e.g. when I look up on Eurotunnel or congestion charge page.

Yes, S-A is Semi Auto.
My Q3 was a Q3 2.0 TDI Quattro S-A
Ignoring all the SlinePlus trim levels etc, that’s the fancy sh!t.

I think it’s for swing axle, the same as in the 1960’s beetles
