Wow! What a difference jumping back into my GTD from that UP made when I picked my car up last night. Brakes that actually work, an accelerator that actually makes the car do something, equipment beyond electric windows. Then adding the DTUK box back on when I got home made another big difference.
Finally, I swapped over the wiper blades for the Bosch Aerotwins – what a difference they have made this morning on fine drizzle. It’s easy to see why the OEM ones are so sh!te once they are off the car. They are bent like a banana, under so much tension to maintain that shape. When they are flattened against the screen, the outer edges will be hard against the screen, but there won’t be much downward pressure at all where the middle is as the arch will be trying to push the middle back off the screen, to allow the down-stroke smear to occur. The Aerotwins are straight when you take them out of the box, with enough give to allow them to take the slight curve of the screen. This has been the case for my last 4 new VWs, why can’t VW get something as simple as this right in 3 generations of Golf?
Benfield have immaculately cleaned the car. When you stick your car in for a service and they say they have “valeted” it by quickly showing the hoover to it, that is not what I have had done. It is like new on all of the interior surfaces, not a single tiny stone tracked in on the carpets, the rubber mats look like they’ve been scrubbed in the ridges with a toothbrush, my boot floor was quite scruffy and everything has been hovered off it. If they could do everything else like they valeted my car, I’d be very happy.
