so....

Went to shop yesterday morning, got the part for 2pm, wrong part...too long.

Went back and got a refund, they ordered the "correct" part for today 2pm.

Went to fit it, still too fooking long, so went back and got a refund.

Called GSF and they have the correct part and correct part number from the belt that had snapped. I've put it on hold and a friend is taking me there to get hold of it, I'll fit it when I'm back.

As soon as the weather starts to settle I'm gonna flush the coolant, fix a small leak from the front cyl head flange and refill with plenty of antifreeze and filtered water

filtered water doesnt make a difference?? boil some in ye kettle or a few pans of water a couple of times and let it go cold, same as ionised!!!boiling it takes out some sort of chemical, thats what the bubbles are when boiling it.50/50 mix is more than sufficiant in this country,as how often do we have weather like this.
if in doubt, rev the arse out of it

Don't forget to put some grit in to stop it freezing up again.

So.

Fitted the belt in the heavy snow, on the street along with new PAS belt too. Great having a gf willing to hold a torch at night

Coolant pipes were frozen in the middle so boiled water and poured it over them slowly, after a few kettle fulls I started her up and it was great, no damage at all so that's good

Let the fan kick in and topped up the coolant and took it for a spin and all is well apart from it is snowing VERY hard here. Thank fook for ABS although in these conditions it really isn't doing much.

Got away with it this time but I learned a valuable lesson, never have just water in the coolant, always make sure you have some anti freeze.

Hopefully see you all at Rtech on sunday
