New face - thought i'd say hi y'all
« on: 01 November 2005, 21:40 »
Hi,

just registered on the forum and thought I'd introduce myself...

I've been direcetd over here by Mr. V from PVW forum, hope you don't mind - thought I might tag along to the rolling road day in November

I've been playing 'dubs for around 7 years now... still haven't got the hang of it!

My current stable is made up of:

'83 mk1 gti running a 183bhp ABF lump with mk3 injection
'87 mk2 8v gti - a bit of a project
'91 mk2 16v - hopefully pick it up tomorrow night, then it's straight over to the garage for a bit of work, then the bodyshop before I get to play with it
and lastly a '96 mk3 GL TDi - now for sale if anyone is interested! (56k and FSH)

Cheers,

Rob

Hi and welcome! We will meet at RR day!

You can tell me how to get 183bhp out of my Mk3!

Sure you will enjoy this place!

The engine is not too far off of standard TBH, it's running a 4-1 manifold, supersprint exhaust (no cat obviously), cone filter (a necessity as the original airbox setup wouldn't fit into a mk1 engine bay) and then a Stealth re-map, I've got the print out somewhere... the engine belonged to a guy called Vick before I got it, not sure if he posts on here - he's doing a mk1 20vt now. Apparently when Stealth did the re-map they were very suprised at the power from such a standard engine, but I guess it's got a fair bit to do with not having the restriction of the cat? I haven't had it on the rollers since I've had it running in the mk1, but knowing that my old Donnington made 149bhp at TSR, and the difference between the two engines on the road, I'm inclined to belive the Stealth print out - and it's not like a remap can go out of tune is it? :undecided:??

All being well it'll be my 'new' Mk2 valver at the RR day, which is likely to be completely standard - so we'll just cross our fingers and hope for 139bhp  - if it makes that then I'm happy as i've got a good healthy lump to start with!
