Thats the trouble with this weather, it's really hard on old cars but the mk3 is a tough old bird and i've found it helps to go all round and underneath with a pressure washer once a week to keep the crud out of the nooks and crannies.

Thanks guys means a lot a keeps me going on this
Really need to start doing the bodywork on this as its suffered a bit through this winter and is looking a bit crusty in places, need a passenger side wing as the bottom is rotten ,a rear door has a hole lurking behind a scab and has got various dents and scratches all over, can feel a full respray coming on somepoint this year.

how are the old 'sills doing?

Yet to take the covers off but from underneath its really good as the jacking points arnt bent so fingers crossed the outer should be good but you never know. :undecided:

This is true , I remember when I was working at a small garage in the mid 90s there was this one customer who had a fiat croma and he used to do this religiously and it was the cleanest car ever and we all know how old fiats like to rust.

Sometimes see those auto car-washes that have a really good underbody spray but the thought of putting it through brushes is a worry.
