does anyone know how/where i could get a superchip for my mk3 golf gti 8valve, that is a simple installation that can be done DIY, cheers

i dont think you can diy a mk 3 only on mk 2's

unless your a pro at solidering!

Replacing the ECU chip is a popular and practical exercise on cars with full management giving improved mid-range responses and power gains depending on the type of engine. 
Chip changes are not possible on the following UK based cars:-

Mk1 Golf, Mk2 Golf to 1987 & Audi 8v cars with Bosch K-Jet injection
Mk2 Golf 16v, Corrado 16v , Passat & Audi 16v models with Bosch K-Jet or KE injection
Audi 5cyl 10v & 20v models (except Turbo) with Bosch K-Jet or KE injection
 A chip upgrade involves changing the main chip in the Engine Management Control Unit (ECU). Chip mounting inside the box can be by two methods either fitted into a socket or soldered direct to the main board.

If the chip is socketed remove the original chip and push in the new one. If it is fixed to the board the whole ECU has to be returned to us so that the chip can be unsoldered and replaced with a mounting block to take the new chip.

In all cases the ECU identification numbers are required by us to ensure we supply the right chip, in some cases we also need the numbers on the main chip as well.
