Evo... What sort of profit did a dealer have on a golf before? You know the numbers... And how much is the agency commission price going to be?

From your perspective, what does this mean to franchised dealerships?

Maybe VW will breathe a sigh of relief and put the mk8 software gremlins behind them………..

Hopefully, lessons learned and here’s hoping the facelift car will be gremlin-free.

Noticed there are a few unregistered Mk8 GTIs and especially Rs sitting behind  my local dealer.
A year ago such a sight would not have been seen.
I wonder if there will be a “dump” of unsold cars to compete with all the unsold ones coming off leases and agreements now an 8.5 is in prospect?

When I say “dump”, I mean the factory imposing unordered stock on dealers to clear. I suspect manufacturers are pretty merciless in this respect.

P6, the main reason there’s lots of stock now compared to the last few years is parts availability, meaning the factories are working properly again now. There just weren’t any significant amount of cars coming through before the last quarter of last year. Now it’s parts clearout time. We’ve gone from a 2 year wait time to being unable to order a factory car but lots of physical or in transit cars which hopefully will match a customers spec give or take from the pool of cars available. Two years to two weeks wait time all of a sudden as of Q4 last year and Q1 this year.

The physical cars will sit at dealers until the 8.5 ordering goes live at which point VW historically seem to get dealers to pre-reg any sitting stock.

Shambles basically how depressing for some of the folks on this forum to wait two years get their cars and now a new model is on the horizon. The faults of the MK8 will have a long lasting legacy and will / is affecting the prices now and the amount of cars in stock are also doing just that. Fully loaded MK8 R 73 plates bottom end of £40k, 20th editions R now below £40k. Who is going to buy a clubby now for mid £40k upwards you can take £10k off that straightaway as you drive it away from the dealers. If you look at the CAP market prices they have just dropped like a stone. Just try a MOTORWAY or we buy any car quote on the vehicles listed on autotrader and it’s quite shocking. I’ve sold my MK8 and now like others on this forum and thread looking for changes to a new sort of vehicle. It’s a shame in reality.
