Dealer Cost of Coolant Change
« on: 02 January 2013, 14:15 »
It appears a bit brown, so am considering changing/flushing the system.

How much does the dealer normally charge, and would you recommend doing it yourself??

easy to do. drain the old out. replace with a 70/30 water/g12+ mix and your away.
to bleed is easy. fill it up with engine off until it stops going down, then start the engine up, as the level drops top it up again. once it stops going down squeeze the top an bottom main rad pipes to get out any air. check level and top up if necessary. replace cap and take it for a spin. take a bit of coolant mix though in cAse you need it!
i think i love you.....

Sorry to jump on someone elses thread but how often should the coolant be changed?

Mine is nice and pink and the car has just done over 100K.

I heard that you should change the water pump at 100k so you'd have to renew the coolant then.

super OAT coolant is guaranteed for 5 years, Cool blue stuff is less. I would advise changing the coolant if age unknown and checked every Autumn!

EuroCar parts sell the new G13 ( replaces the pink G12 ) for 8.99 for 5 litres of pre mixed or 12.99 for 5 litres of concentrate.
Easy enough to DIY,  For what they cost you may as well throw a new thermostat in at the same time.

Have a look at your radiator on the drivers side, They seem to go in the same place.

Changed my rad 3 days ago, Will be posting some pics shortly.
