Title: Best Shock Absorbers & Springs for 1988 Mk2 Golf GTI
Post by: Pjenky on 27 March 2023, 13:42
I believe you can't buy OEM shocks and springs that were on a 1988 Mk 2 Golf GTI and wondered is there any suggestion of the best shocks and springs that would be as close to what the car would have had when it left the factory? I don't want the car lowered, just as it would have been and a good handling. Currently the front of my car which I bought recently bounces a lot at the front if I go over a bump but I have been told the shocks are OK.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I do a lot with Classic Audis and your best bet for an oe ride is Konis. You can adjust them if you want a firmer ride. I would stick with the original springs if their not broken. Get them blasted and powder coated. They made good springs back then.
