Mk2 Golf GTi 3dr 8v Day 7 of ownership

Hi,

thanks for accepting me to the group.

I purchased my third VW a 1991 Mk2 Golf GTi 3dr 8v off ebay. I'm very happy with it, my email is full of small purchases to complete the re-build started by some of the previous owners.

Trying to make the interior feel stock, various small bellows, plastics, repair gearknob etc.

Sound system had an Alpine Amp and Subwoofer plus meaty cables run everywhere, not my thing, so I stripped all out.

Stripped out previous alarm and immobiliser which meant I couldn't start the car yesterday... looked as old immob loom and found when electronic module removed, two wires had been joined, so traced one end back to hefty red/black from ignition barrel and discovered the 'splice' done with a chainsaw by a wiring butcher and joined it and car started thankfully.

My other car is a 2021 Alfa Romeo Giulia, red. An amazing machine

Nice, had a 16v mk 2 GTI for a few years then had a 8v mk2 GTI for 18 years or so.

Great cars.

Just listed my Momo Corse steering wheel out of it on ebay this morning.

I used to have a Momo Corse in a mk2 (many years ago) too!
