Good link - thanks Keith. So the DPF fills up over 120,000 miles or so until a second/third/fifth owner pays a back-street mechanic to tip it all out into the atmosphere anyway...

I wouldn't think so Mac it all depends how you drive it. I do 70% local running and the other time I give it a blast up the motorway to clean any $hit thats built up. I read on one forum that a guy had a new TDI on Sunday and on Wednesday his DPF light came on. They asked about his driving style and he said its just local 2 mile trips. Mine is local but my light has never come on.

Its all down to emmission regs. There is Passive and Active Regeneration of PDFs Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF)
