Bargin Mk3 8v
« on: 08 December 2010, 18:58 »
So i thought it was about time to put some pics up..

This is the car as i bought it for 4months ago

Yea aright i know that front end looks gay but it didnt saty like that to long

Right its a 1993 8v gti, 130000miles full, mostly vw, service history. Just had the head gasket done, head skimmed, new plugs and leads etc.. Alloys lowered on shocks and springs... 4months MOT 3months tax  £500

So on getting the car home i discovered it had a hold near the drivers side front jacking point. Got the car round to my uncles and we replaced the entire sill and half the floor pan, decided to check the passenger side and found a bit of rust, so stripped it well back and replaced part of the sill and most of the floor pan, oh and the rear nr side arch.. put a whole new arch in. Sealed it all and painted it al up, so so far the bill stands at about £100 for the metal and sealer and paint etc.

Right then discovered it needed:
Thermostat
Drop links
Bottom ball joints
And threw in some track rod ends for good luck.
The sunroof leaked and didnt open
Standard air box to replace the poxy rocket looking cone filter.
Passegener seat tipping lever was broke
Fix the big crack in nr siide headlight

Sowen about all these jobs, done al except the thermostat as i wasnt conviced it needed it but upon driving it, it does!

I then decided i needed some toys so ordered:
Coilovers
4-Branch
came with a decat in the boot
Stainless middle and rear sections
Subwooooooooofer
Amp big enough for the sub
New wires etc
New grille

So the jobs i then did:
Fixed the sunroof with some bits of wood,  the gearing that the motor meshes with was forked and decided with it being winter, bodge it shut for now!
Fixed and Painted the headlights
Painted the grille
Put the shiney new bits on
Fixed the passeneger seat with some genious intuition.
ANd finnaly got round to building the new system

And heres what it looked like before its MOT

Also washed it and decided to clay and quickly polish a small patch to see what i had to work with.. I was quite impressed with this

The car is now up and running and on the road with not too many problems...

Jobs in urgent need of doing:
Change thermostat cus its bloody freezing driving to work at 5.30am
Smoke side repeaters and indicators/fogs

Wil try and get some new pics of how she looks at the minute and maybe asneaky peek of the yet unfinshed install.

Any feed back would be great, let me know what you think. Oh and i warn you, i am not easily offended!

Cheers Justin

Not really a fan of a black surround to twin headlights but on a red car it does look good.
Keep up the good work matey!
