Apparently everyone i know reckons mine is the only mark 4 golf they've ever heard of with rust, which is just my luck !!
Its not to bad really, just bit of bubbling/flaking paintwork around my rear passenger side wheel arch, its quiet a thin strip of paint which is coming loose and turning dreaded orange colour in places. i haven't managed to get any quotes yet but has anyone else experienced this?? no doubt the stealership will want half my wages to sort it out

Never seen a Golf with rust myself - could it have been damaged and repaired and the repair not rust-proofed properly?
What age is your Golf? - would the rust warranty cover it.

Could have just been a deep stone chip. Get some kurust on it to help stop the spread of rust.

Its an early one '98S reg GTI T, suppose it could have started as bit of damage then spread a bit?? I'm going to have to get some quotes soon, don't want it getting any worse. had a look at the literature but think I'm outside any warranty for the paintwork/body integrity cos its now coming up to 8yrs age.
