Fitting the TCR exhaust to my GTI PP
« on: 24 November 2024, 01:26 »
Hey all,

So I’m looking to fit the TCR silencer (5G6253609ED) to my GTI Performance. From what I understand, the fitting should be relatively straight forward. What I can’t seem to get a clear answer on is what clamps I’ll need. I’ve read conflicting info that it should just fit on and that in some cases I’ll need a reducer clamp. Would anyone be able to clarify?

Also, if anyone has installed the TCR exhaust, mind sharing your experience and if you’re happy with it?

Thank you!

Hi,

I have the TCR rear silencer fitted to my Mk7.5 GTI PP (OPF) and it enhances the sound nicely if you’re going for OEM+. If you’re looking for a bigger change maybe consider a cat back system from a third party.

I got the following clamp the fit the TCR back box VW / AUDI / SEAT / SKODA EXHAUST CLAMP 65 X 88 MM 1K0253141AA off eBay.

Also got this fitted on mine, it's not as big as a difference as the Mk7 I had previously with the Clubsport back box but that's down the OPF. If I were to do it again I'd probably look at something aftermarket next.

Thank you, guys. I’ve gone and ordered a full TCR exhaust system so I don’t have to cut the current exhaust + I can restore it back to normal if I do decide to sell the car in the future. Will do a GTI vs TCR sound difference video because why not 😀

Can I be nosey and ask what the delivery time you've been given (I'm assuming this from VW)?

I only ask because I've been waiting for several months just for some interior trim parts which are all on back order from Germany with no potential delivery date - odd as I'm pretty sure many of the GTI interior trim bits are shared with 'normal' Golfs.

There's a used full system on ebay at the moment.

I’ve got a good mate living in Germany who was able to source it through VW. We’re still within the indicative 4-6 week delivery period, but I’d not be surprised if this is pushed well into February. He mentioned that the recent strikes and cost cutting have been causing havoc across the business.
