Does anyone know if i can reuse the control cable for a newer set of units ?

Yeah i'm pretty sure its the same socket, I have an old sony head unit and will be changing it for an XRM500R and the new radio has the same socket on the back as my old one from about 10 years ago.

Unplug the changer and look what socket you got, should be a circular one with two little squares in it.
