Golf R Farts
« on: 13 July 2019, 13:15 »
Hi,

Been looking at Golf R leases as they are going for good prices atm. However I heard from a friend the new Golf Rs don't fart anymore when you upshift and sound slightly different? Can anyone who has recently received a new R shed some light?

I remember they did this with the GTI's a couple of years ago, they weren't as loud and didn't fart on the new 7 gear transmission. Something about VW changing the ECU config maybe to comply with WLTP?

I don't have an R but to get pops and bangs on upshifts etc it needs to be mapped in.

Can it actually be mapped it now? Didn’t think it could on the 7.5 post WLTP thingy cars. My R makes some great noises in race and S but different to the dsg farts.

It’d be great to know if you could. I just do them in my head anyway.

Yep they changed the software I believe for the new emission rules, the engine went from 310 to 300 and farts eliminated
