Title: Feels like a new car!
Post by: Zayd on 26 July 2011, 10:34
After rather a long time putting it off, I've finally had the rear axle bushes replaced with the upgraded Fabia VRS ones.  The ride is now so smooth and composed, I know for sure I'll be keeping this car for the missus.

We've had it nearly 5 years, spent a fair bit maintaining it, but man does it return some pleasant driving.  I've driven a lot of other cars in this class, but even for a 11 year old car it is still performing admirably.

Be aware guys, if you are going to put the VRS bushes in the rear, then your Indy will have to make a specific tool to do so.  The standard pressing tool will not work with these.

This.

It is a pig of a job and i ended up having to take rear beam off, disconnecting break lines and taking it to my mates garage to use the press (vice would not work however many times we tried).

or end up breaking something else while doing it :D

After disconnecting the rear brake lines to get to the beam, we couldnt bleed the brakes properly, so while i was there and was going to have to bleed whole system, i ended up buying 312mm big brakes and goodridge braided lines.

Bushes, original job, cost £30 delivered.

Brakes, as i was there , cost £225 + £15 odd brake fluid.

Ended up an expensive experience
