My 63 plate has been in the garage for this exact same issue - needs a new thermostat housing to cure.  You're lucky if you've just purchased from a dealer as they'll cover it. Seems to be bit of an issue, had mine done locally for about £500 including the water pump (which was fine but it's part of the same housing so might as well have it replaced at the same time).

Thanks, does seem to be an issue on this engine fair few similar on the web and probably the reason it got traded in!

Update.

Car repaired.As mentioned thermostat housing and water pump were the issues all good now.

Set of these black chrome door lock covers was waiting for me when I arrived in work this morning (forgot I ordered them), as I've been abroad on business all last week.

Will fit them later.

I ordered some silver ones but was sent covers for a Subaru by mistake. Got a refund just fine but annoying. Those black ones do look smart though, perhaps I'll give it another go and get them.

Hopefully I've managed to fix the rattly plastic trim behind the rear view mirror. It's rattled from day one so I finally decided to take it all apart. Appears it's never been clipped in properly although it's looked like it was.
