Kick down in a manual GTD?
« on: 28 September 2013, 08:04 »
Taking it easy on the way home last night with the car in Eco, I was over taking an artic when a car came the other way. The thing is, I floored the pedal and swear blind I got an auto type kick down.... Anyone else? I'm thinking maybe it put itself into sport mode.

In Eco mode, the software limits throttle response (in an attempt to increase economy). When you get the accelerator pedal all the way down, it makes a micro switch and temporarily gives you full throttle response, for exactly the conditions you describe.

When the throttle is released from this set point, the software defaults back into the Eco program again.

Just leave it in Sport. My car actually seems thirstier in eco than normal due to the very dulled throttle response making me press harder on the throttle to get anything out of it.

Does the Sport button make a normal car better, or does the eco button make a good car sh!te?
