Title: Petrol filler flap
Post by: miniman on 28 May 2016, 08:29
As anyone had thier plastic fuel filler flap fall off?
Pressed mine to open the flap and it fell off putting a chip in the edge paintwork, seems to slide off very easily from the black backing plate.

Something not quite right there. No idea what car you are talking about but it shouldn't be doing that!

Mk7? Happened to me filling up not so long ago...felt a right fool at the petrol station but at least caught it before if fell not easy when I was trying to play it cool, 'nothing to see here'. When I took it in to VW service engineer implied I had bent it right back, I assured him that had never happened. One of the lugs seemed to have broken off, he slid it,back on and attached using number plate sticky. He warned me the petrol fumes might eventually cause the sticky to fail. I'm softly softly now when filling up ....omg totally forgot as I wrote that that of course it is now some scumbags thieves problem.
