90 GTI 16V KR Engine Problem
« on: 27 April 2009, 21:01 »
My normally beloved GTI , normally ver very reliable is poorly.

Standing still in neutral, revs to the red line in instant.

Then when driving very gental it's ok
]
Then press the accelerator a bit and it judders and misses and lacks power.

I have changed plugs air filter rotar arm and dizzy cap.

I'm now thinking hall sensor in the dizzy.

anybody confirm this or offer any suggestions.

Anyway if it is the hall sensor has anyone got a sensor or a dizzy that works and fits.

Cheers Chaps

Could it be something as simple as a sticky throttle cable????  :undecided:

Try new leads!

If you mean its 100% fine revving when stationery, and only misses when actually driving down the road, I would look at fuel starvation e.g. blocked filter.

Mine did almost exactly this and I cleaned up all the leads - especially the main one to the coil - this was badly corroded (along with the terminals on the coil) and this sorted it out. (so far!)
