How To - Remove your Door card
« on: 21 April 2009, 20:01 »
Passenger Door

1)Prise off the trim cover from around the grab handle

2) Remove the 2 brass coloured screws from inside the handle

3) undo the 3 torx screws from the bottom of the door card

4) remove the torx screw from the side near the inner part of the mirror

5) lift panel upwards
6) unclip the electrical connections to the window switch and door light
7)leave the door lever cable on and swing the door card out the way

8) drill out rivets,

9) Remove old speaker

10) Make sure you get all the rivet tails out of the door or they will rattle and annoy you

11) fit new speaker adapters I used Autoleads http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270360686440

12) Fit new speaker into adapters making sure connector plugs are in the recess

Test speakers before you fit the door card in case there is a problem

Refit Door card in reverse order of removal making sure the window is open to aid pushing the edge of the door card onto the clips

Big thanks to Dai-Cymru for this guide

PLease note - he and Golfgti accept no resposibility should you fook anything up  :lipsrsealed:

Yep but the trim with the tweeter in has a screw in it you'll see when door card is removed, first disconnect wiring to mirror and the tweeter then undo the screw and unclip the trim they are expanding peg type clips just carefully prise the trim away from door and place to one side, next you have some foam insulation type stuff to remove then you'll see the bolt T45 torx I think it is? that holds the mirror on, remove that while holding mirror in case it falls, once bolt removed the mirror should be free and only held by the fact it has a hook type clip and a locating peg that align it with door so tilt mirror down then lift up and out to remove it

Hi mate sounds like a lock barrel issue? you don't have to remove the door card for that, here is a guide...
