I Tried jack, and he don't do engines :( but seemed a nice guy anyway.

I got a price for a 1.8 8v engine from a local company, the engines are re-manufactured engines, meaning that they are almost like new!

He wanted ?1087 for a VAG one and ?1011 for a British make but still good quality apparentlly. and that was my engine as a swap, but no fitting.

Is that about the going price? I have no idea :(

Thanks

how about a rebulit engine on exchange?

volkspares/bigboystoys always advertise in the vw mags.

my 8v came with a receipt for about 700 quid's worth of exchange engine work from those above.

Any campaign its worth ?650 with or without an engine mate....  Get it and look for a nice DX engine block to stick in, keep it original...  Do you know whats wong with the existing engine??

The engine has very low oil pressure and make alot of noise when over 3000 revs! so it sound knackered :)

I am trying to get hold of trasport at the mo, to bring it back as it's a good 3 hour drive from ome on motorway!  Could get the AA to bring me back though, don't know what documents they off me as I will not be the owner at that time :)

as far as i remember with the aa the policy holder is covered in any car. this was certinly the case when the gearbox went on my rover p6 and i had to get it from london to worthing my friend was an aa member and she phone and said she was in a friends car which broke down and we were going to worthing. they came and took us to worting problem solved.
in any case you could just say you brought the car got round the corner and suddenly it sounded bad and needs recovering home/a garage of your choice, problem solved!
