Radio Resets When I Turn Off Ignition
« on: 08 December 2003, 18:59 »
My import Golf came without a radio/CD :(

I looked at the gamma/additional CD option but have just gone for a stock Sony CDXMP40.

It plays MP3s so don't need a boot changer  ;D

Anyway when I power off for more than a few minutes i.e. take the keys out it loses all it's radio settings and clock time :(

Any ideas ?

Can't you swap the pins round in the connector to find a "power always on" one ?

Regards

Jerry

being a sony you should have a yello, and a red power wires (permanent and ignition live) some times these need swapping over so they should have clear bullet connections which you swap these should sort your probs!!

Thanks again kniterider,

LOL I re-read the instructions and as you say the yellow and red wires need swaping  :-[

Did that and it now all works fine ta.

The CD even emits three bleeps if you switch off the ignition without removing the face plate  ;D

My daughter has been explaining how MP3 works. Need to start ripping some of my CDs.
