insurance qoute
« on: 25 October 2009, 09:33 »
so i got an insurance quote on the basis i have my licence and ive had it for a month.. im 23 yrs old ..

i done a qoute on a golf gti 1.9 this would be my first car as a first time driver...

now a couple was 150 area but a certain QUINN DIRECT qouted me the following (with the option to buy online with the details i had put in)

£247 deposit
£98 a month for 10 months 19% apr
£250 excess

so PA £1596

also above this is adrian flux all ive got is a PA qoute of £1090 and 250 excess .... so yes thats cheaper but where the monthly payment plan details would be it sais check with insurer!

if any one could just point me in the right direction here of what adrian flux mean by this and that the quote from quinn direct is a genuine qoute and the price is exactly the same as the qoute and theres no hidden questions etc .

thanks

i thought this was pretty good!! what do u guys think like i said it gave option to check and buy soo ,,, also above this

Excess is only paid if you make a claim to your insurers, so if you don't have an accident during the policy then minus the excess to any totals you're making out.

As for the prices, generally they are what they are shown, but myself have always found it safer to ring and get everything confirmed.

If they were going to refuse you for it it would be done after the initial quote has been given, usually quotes are given and made with several assumptions, which again is why I say it's better to ring up just to confirm everything, and if you're planning on modding your car, make sure you know how much certain things could go up by, and how much (if any) admin fees will be etc.

Not really, it depends on plenty of factors, this can include you age, where you live, driving history (if any), who else will be insured on the car (believe it or not, adding parents or partners etc can reduce it in many cases). I think for you it'll be better as you're older than your average teenager who passes at 17, but as you're still new to driving I wouldn't be surprised if it was still quite high, just ring several places up and see.

I would recommend not just using compare websites as well, going directly to the insurer is always best I find. Try Adrian Flux or HIC and give them a call, they do specialist insurance on GTis and modified cars.

My advice is based on what I personally know and have experienced so no refunds lol! But you're welcome chap.

Yes you can call and get a rough idea of what it'll cost without owning the car, I'd mention this to them when you first speak to someone, but personally I'd just use the online system for a quotation, then ring up when you have the car.
