2025 Car Insurance Decreases?
« on: 28 March 2025, 14:28 »
According to press reports in the first few months of 2025 the cost of car insurance has dropped by about 15-20% over the last year.

My insurance will be due for renewal in June.

Is the drop just insurance industry press propaganda or is it reflected in real life GTI renewals?   It would be good to know if anybody renewing in the first 3 months has seen a drop.

Last year paid £560, this year £419, so yep I’d agree. I work for a commercial broker and we are also seeing a much smaller rate of premium inflation as well.

My initial renewal quote was double the previous year!!!

Ended up paying about the same as the previous year after shopping around.

My quote for the year was higher so I shopped around and saved £200.

Sounds like a bit of a mixed bag so far.   Still shows that shopping around is essential though.

Hopefully a few more replies will paint a more complete picture.

My saving was from shopping around, if I’d renewed with the same insurer, renewal would only have been £20 cheaper than current premium.

£440 down to £320 this year, but only after a brief discussion with the insurer. The renewal quote was higher

Really disappointed with LV. I've been with them for a few years now but while everyone else's insurance seems to be coming down mine has gone up from £288 last year to £344. Phoned them and they were only willing to knock off £20 so I cancelled.

Got a quote for £230 with a lower excess from Saga. Only problem is that the missus is now taunting me relentlessly calling me a geriatric, OAP etc.
