Thanks guys.
So I arrived into the UK (on the morning they shut LHR, so via Paris CdG 😳) and picked the car up from Owen.
He’s done a proper job recommissioning the car and it’s a lot of fun.
Apart from the gear change into fifth in particular.
Which is sloppy and rather hit and miss.
Looking at the linkage at the gearbox end there’s a load of slack in both the adjusters (up/down and side to side) so the question for the brains trust is, does anyone build a replacement for the linkage at the gearbox end?
If not it’ll be a pull-apart and attempt to rebuild the existing part, but it looks iffy to say the least!
And one of the engine mounts looks to be full of rusty water, which is ominous.
Otherwise, there’s the usual list of “foibles” - central locking only works from the pax side, boot locks but doesn’t unlock, fog lights are MIA, and there’s a dodgy repair to the near side rear quarter which I might have to get sorted as it’s annoying me!
On the upside, the new brakes are great, the suspension is tight (it needs corner weighting but it’s relatively adjustable) and the new tyres are lovely!
Overall, very happy to be back in my Mark 3 😀
