Golf mk7 / Re: Side Grill Scuff

I did exactly the same, though in my case, my fault. ISTR part was £29, easier to replace than repair on mine - local Chipsaway fitted it as I also scuffed same paint off🙄

Golf mk7 / Side Grill Scuff
« Last post by jcrollie on 09 June 2025, 14:53 »
Came back to my car to see some cnut has brushed past the front passenger side of my car… Some Fast Cut has got most of it out the paint and a machine polisher will no doubt get rid of what’s left, however the side grill has been scuffed also. This is cheap black plastic so if it needs to be replaced should be cheap and it is a generic part across Mk7 GTI/GTD but was just wondering if it could be sorted without having to go through the hassle of changing it. Has anyone had any experience with this?

We have no issue with the seats, ours seem really adjustable.
As above though, it did take a while to get them set up correctly compared to the Golf GTi seats.
Once this is done though, it is a comfortable car. On a long run, especially cruising in 8th gear it eats the miles up.

It's a shame that the UK spec 128ti didn't get the same bucket seats as the M135i xdrive.
In some countries these seats were an optional extra.

Good morning and welcome,
Any decent VW Independent Specialist will have the correct and up to date diagnostic tools plus access to the VW service database (I know from personal experience the guys I use have) - I’d definitely give an Indy a go, save money and probably a better service.

Just moved into my last 6 months with the 128Ti as three company year lease comes to an end in December. Presently 27000 miles.

What are the seats like please? Better/worse compared to the Golf?

This is where Fred and I agree, as he is right, and disagree as he is wrong also.

Fred is 100% right at outset, the way the 128Ti seats position you is completely different from the Golf, you are sort of forced to sit more upright, and for first month or so, there was some associated twinges, so for a test drive or even a test weekend they would feel quite alien and uncomfortable. So definitely cannot say what Fred says is incorrect it was his experience.

However, after some more time spent you adjust to the seats supporting you maybe more correctly and they just move into being comfortable, with the under leg extensions something like as give legs full support closer to knee.

Driven 26500 miles in 30 months with some long runs, and seat comfort is not even thought to, 128Ti is a good, comfortable mile cruncher.

Maybe Bogwoppit can add his ownership thoughts on seats?

Hi all very new here and a first time gti driver !

I’ve had my car 1 year 2021 plate golf gti
Love my car , but on Friday car broke down and went into limp mode and will only run at 1500 rpm
Diagnostic machine is coming up with P210100 - throttle / engine speed control module , has anyone had any issues with this ? I’ll probably have to put car into vw but a bit scared on costs etc , unsure if this is something that could be fixed by an independent vw specialist ? Any advice greatly appreciated, I’m Glasgow based

Golf mk8 / Re: DCC system, is it a must have on the MK8?

Really difficult pretty much most cars out the factory available to dealers were bog standard things then we went intoCOVID  lock down and then total carnage new car supply so dealers couldn’t even order nicely spec’d stock cars. For  quite a chunk of the MK8 clubsports life cycle only customers could order cars or lease companies would have ordered the odd batch of bog standard ones aswell….before we went into lockdown.

So will be very slim pickings of any nice one private own spec’d cars….

Worse. Far worse. It's why I decided not to buy one when they first came out. Had the 128 for a whole day and it crippled me.
