SUPERCHIPS BLUEFIN....ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE..
« on: 21 June 2007, 15:44 »
:undecided:
Hi there,
my bluefin has been put back yet another week, this time down to superchips im slightly undecided what to do.
what im concerned about is when i return the car for normal servicing via the dealer the bluefin can be reversed to normal bhp origional settings as most of us know, however i presume that the dealer can still detect the alteration to power,
how true is this,do they check this as routine or will it be overlooked.
Anyone out there with the lowdown as im impressed with the bluefin, but could be an expensive mistake...
Thanks.. :undecided:

Yeah I have learn't they can't detect the actual re-map but can see how many times the memory has been 'flashed' so if it was installed or not they would still be able to see you had re-mapped at some point. Not sure they would check it as routine, wouldn't have thought so, I don't have mine serviced at a dealer anyway, get it done at a local VW/Audi specialist, just take it in for any recalls/warranty work.
It depends on how much you value your warranty against modding your motor, personally I will sell my ED30 at 3 years old so would never have the chance to re-map if I wanted to keep my warranty for the duration!
There was one chap on here who had his dealer re-map his motor, was more expensive (£800) but kept his warranty - can't remember what re-map it was though.
I am loving my Bluefin ED30! But if you read the main thread u'll see its got its critics!

Thats the one!  problem is, AMD don't do a re-map for Edition 30 yet, to my knowledge.

Thanks guys,
last week filled the ed30 up with Tesco 99 biofuel, only available at certain outlets,no changes for first 100 miles however filled up today, drove back from Cardiff and yes you feel the grunt, slight gain on mpg.on the M4 journey averaged 75/80mph,overall consumption 35.6mpg,
ill stick with this fuel for a while and if and when the bluefin is fitted see how she runs on that..it smells quite nice as well if your into that type of thing ,similar to a WRC car passing you in the forest. :nerd:
