wont start

i have a 1986 1.8 8v gti an i cant get it started. i had it runin the over day but it wont start now, i have cleaned the spark plugs  an dizzi cap   i have checked all the wires an plugs...... has any one got any suggestions........

have you got a spark? You need to determine fuel or electrics, have you got an imobiliser, have you opened the air box or intake pipe, there are endless routes that could solve your problem.  :smiley:

i opend the air box coz i tryed to fit a k&n filter an i cleaned the pipes an the  round thing coz it had oil on it i used carb cleaner.............

Sounds like you might have caused a movement in the plate, the fuel pump needs this to create the vaccuum to operate corresctly, the settings for it is in the haynes manual. The box has to be air tight also as the intake air comes from the holes in the base of the box.  :smiley:
