Wont start up!

Ok,whilst driving along the road yesterday the car was losing power and then the engine decided to turn off. after i was unable to start up. It has a fitted immobiliser which works fine. All levels including oil, water were all topped up. plenty of fuel in the car also and battery is fine too. Really is a mystery after the car has just recently had a service done. HELP?

Can you hear the fuel pump priming when you turn the ignition on?

Is it 8v or 16v?

Yeah i can hear the fuel pump priming after I've turned the key and pressed the immobiliser button. However, this isn't always the case. Sometimes i have take the key out and repeat this process a few times to hear it. Could it be the immobiliser thats causing the issue? Its an 8V.

Coil Pack
Distributor
Fuel Pipe
Recent General Service

Unfortunately I'm not that mechanically minded, reason for me sending an SOS out.

When the immobiliser doesn't cancel, does the car turn over? If it does then I don't think it'll be that.

Have you taken a spark plug out and turned it over to see if you're getting a spark?

Have you checked the wiring on the ignition? It's not uncommon for the wiring to have been butchered to install alarms and immobilisers.  Who fitted the immobiliser?

Hi all,

Yes i have taken the spark plug out and checked it and it seems fine. when i brought the car it came with the immobiliser fitted but unable to trace the paperwork on it so i don't know who fitted it. The ignition wiring i haven't checked yet but will have it looked at. The fuel pump is fine too. I'm having the vehicle looked at over the weekend and hopefully we can get it sorted. ill keep you posted!
