Title: Selling practises.
Post by: hufc4promotion1908 on 19 July 2020, 15:13
Just thought I would post up a bad experience I had yesterday with a fellow forum member. Bought a set of 19” Brescia alloys for my GTI and after a week of communications and being sent pictures with description of the wheels and tyres as being immaculate I travelled 100 miles to collect them (over 2hrs). Wheels were in his garage with poor lighting but I didn’t need to check them over properly as I had been sent pictures of all 4 wheels, or so I thought. Got side tracked talking about his lovely car that he had in the garage and ended up paying the money and then loading the wheels into my car. When I got home I checked the wheels out properly and found one had lots of rim protector chunks missing and a cut to the rim protector at one point. The wheel had a smart repair and in the sunlight could been noticed it was bright silver not diamond cut in one area. I thought I was at fault as he had provided all pics of the wheels prior to me collecting. After studying the photos today the wheel in question hadn’t been photographed it was one of the other ones doubled up.

No reply today from the Seller after I noticed his trickery. Not a nice way to treat a fellow enthusiast.

Anyway the seller hasn’t came back with a solution and it looks like this has became an expensive mistake.

The original advert doesn't have pictures, price or location - not a good start.

If you have been provided 4 wheel pictures but only representing 3 actual wheels, that is disappointing.

However..... you have been to see the wheels. It can't have been so dark you couldn't see them. Even lifting them into your car would surely allow you to inspect them. Use the torch on your phone, anything! I can't believe the seller is trying to scam you at this point with a dimly lit garage and a distraction tale. I have no price to go on so can't really comment on value. One view of 'immaculate', 'mint' etc can be very different to another.

Now, rather than just deal with the issue by:
Buying a new tyre
Buying a new wheel and tyre
Selling the wheel you don't like
Selling all the wheels elsewhere

You have listed another awful advert, with again, no pictures or price.

Depending on the price you paid, it might not even be an expensive mistake, you might make a profit! Now however, anyone looking at your advert is going to be expecting an absolute bargain as you have made them out to sound terrible.

Yes I have had to be honest with the description. I will remove the advert as I don’t have picture hosting option to display pics.
