Hi, I have just got myself a golf GTI MK4 1.8.t 1999, it’s the 150BHP model so am looking to upgrade it to get some more fun out of it.

I have £1000 to spend right now, and looking to lay out a bit more as the year goes on what do you think I should upgrade first?

I have heard about remapping and chipping but have been told some horror storeys about this so am not sure. any advice would be helpful

Many thanks
Stephen

Get a new clutch from a vr6 and flywheel from g60 get a map and get a cold air intake or uprated air filter your car will be an animal. then look at brakes and suspension maybe coilovers really.

What he said as its very sound advice and achievable in that budget:
Re-map
Clutch (singl mass flycwheel)
Panel filter
007p DV
Dogbone

That will give you alot of fun from your car and it is really how it should of left the factory!

In near future uprate the suspension and brakes such as dot5 fluiid or dot4 with higher boiling point, braided hoses, grooved drilled discs etc...
