will keep an eye out otherwise a new thermostat will be ordered
touch wood the temp sender works, although at 35ish quid for the thermostat i will prob replace that for peace of mind
just waiting for side skirts to show up
-
looking at the pics, you need to swap your front wheels to the other side's as them tyres are directional, and there facing the wrong way?
-
She sits perfect to me
-
its only swaping the left wheel to the right, and the right to the left! lol
-
Are they lol. Will have a closer look. Haven't noticed anything out of the normal :undecided:
-
 im not sure what there doing being the wrong way, but if there directional, it must be for a reason?
quick google
Correct fitting is important
Standard car tyres have a symmetrical tread pattern which is the same across the whole width of the tyre. The tread pattern on an asymmetric car tyre changes across the tread as different parts of that tread are adapted for particular functions.
The outside edge consists of large stiffer tread blocks which help with cornering. The inner tread blocks are smaller and designed to shift water and improve wet grip. In addition, the middle of the tread usually has a continuous rib to help straight line stability.
Asymmetrics must be fitted the right way round on the wheel to benefit from the tread block arrangement – the sidewalls are always marked.
Directional car tyres usually have a chevron or arrow pattern in the tread and are designed to work in a specific direction of rotation. Key benefits are:
•better dispersal of water which builds up in front of the tyre
•reduced road noise
•improved directional stability.
Directional tyres need to rotate in the correct direction – clearly marked on the sidewall of the tyre.
If fitted the wrong way round, the tyre won't be dangerous, but you won't gain any of the benefits of a directional tyre.
Incorrect fitting of both asymmetric and directional tyres is a reason for MOT failure too
Some very high performance cars have directional and asymmetric tyres – these have to be fitted the right way round on the wheel and on the correct side of the vehicle.
Buy tyres at wholesale prices...
-
Cheers Toby, just done a bit of googling and found that they have an arrow on them saying rotation, so just checked and they are back to front lol oops
The reason being is that they had 2 new tyres put on but I alread had wheels on so when I did it never even noticed. Luckily it wasn't a garage that did it
Cheers bud :afro:
-
Good job its a easy fix
-
tyres are done :afro: cheers toby
side skirts have turned up :D

Haven't updated this for a while.
New wheels have been fitted (long beaches) and bump stops have been trimmed a lil bit so she's sitting a bit lower. I haven't wound her all way back down yet as I'm quite happy with height with all the bumps arounds plus my exhaust bracket is a bit rusted and could break but want to wait till I get new exhaust fitted
Then been noticing a noise recently and came across this just now :( not sure how it got like that and been driving around like it for a while :lipsrsealed: going to bolt it back on when dad gets in :) hopefully don't need new one

Looks really great on those wheels :afro: very oe.
-
I'm liking the wheels, but why the change? You haven't had the last set that long?!
-

I wasn't a big fan of them tbh, they just looked too big and too blingy lol. Getting the refurbed and painted grey by Martz :) then gunna sell them on
-
Looks good, just need some VW centre caps to finish it off
-
Ive recently done the same mate my 16's are soooo much nicer to drive on gunna keep my 18's for shows ect and get some monty 2s to use as my dailys !
-
I think I prefer 18s with the r32 kit as its more deeper. I like 18s but u need to go low and I didn't want to do that so I'm more than happy with my 17s :)
Was wondering y u had 16s lol
-
Old wheels are up for sale
Had new custom made exhaust done yesterday and just getting use to the extra noise lol. It's not ott but a lil louder than I would have liked but I can live with it
Next I think I may need a new clutch and don't know whether to do clutch first or remap as I don't want to get remap then clutch goes lol.
Got new tt arb coming this week then gunna order new silicone tip then look at fmics :lipsrsealed:
Going for custom map and hoping to see around 220-230bhp :D hopefully intime for inters.
-
All sounds good...
I personally get the clutch done first and upgrade it so it will cope with the forth coming power increase
but that's just 'Mr Practical' speaking
-
Ye think that's what am gunna do then mr 'I want power' perks up and I have tore think lol
-
Sort the clutch 1st, makes a lot more sense in the long run.
-
Just had tt arb fitted so once the weather is a bit better can get her lowered more :D
Gunna order myself a newg60/vr6 clutch upgrade then slowly getting closer to the custom map

What's the theory behind the G60/VR6 set up? Read a few people doing this in a variation of golfs...
-
Just makes the clutch lighter, a lot more suitable for maps and can handle the extra torque
-
Ok...
so is the G60 the same as the VR6?

-
Not really a performance mod but ordered myself a new jvc double din unit and a sat nav lol
Only got them as halfrauds are having a clearance so thought it was rude not to
Will get pics up when I get around to fitting it  the double din not the sat nav

-
Just had car aligned using hawk eye at wheels in motion in Chesham. Top guys highly recommended
On another note took the gf to VW to look at new polos and am interested myself :lipsrsealed:
What with crazy insurance on this I can't justify paying that much. And this way get a band new car not as much power but more economical and a dsg box
-
car is now up for sale
New Audi A1 on order
-
Car is now sold
A1 order is cancelled for time being
Mk3 vr6 now insured to save some money for a mk2 1.8t hopefully

Cheers guys. Just gotta get her back from garage, something wrong with the climatronic
Keeping my eye out on a nice mk2 1.8T  or a mk5 Gti.
On one hand I want dsg and something newer hence the mk5, on the other hand I reallllllllly want a mk2  always said I wanted to own one
-
looks very tidy, sound so good VR6s
-
How does it go compared to the 1.8t?
-
How does it go compared to the 1.8t?
Being auto it's not as quick to accelerate. But being lighter and about 15-20more horses I would say its slightly quicker
Would like to make it quicker but don't want to spends £1000s
-
You're a jammy bugger Jon!!
Not a bad interim car to drive whilst you save for the mk2 (which you are definitely getting, because I want to see it!) lol!

There could b worse cars
Just picked her up from garage today, first time I've drove her in like 6months, feels nice and sounds
Can't decide between mk2 1.8t or mk2 vr6 :undecided: just think with petrol prices rising the 1.8T seems the more sensible option, although getting used to the auto :lipsrsealed:
-
I'd get the Mk2 1.8T if I were you!!
If I had the money, I'd run one along side my derv, n a Mk1 cab as well! :undecided:
-
Nothing big just a lil update. Just got these come thru for shows :)
Only cost £20 so not bad. Will stick them in my front windscreen when parked up at shows

No way would have to be turbo don't like this petrol situation with the vr lol, sounds nice as fcuk but ££££££ to run
Ye would only get oem wheel, like Lupo or polo, plus iwoulndt put it on.
Good to meet u mate, shame u didn't bring yours over
-
I'll bring it next time when she is clean and I have some more rims!
-
This is the look I'll be going for (front end not colour, wing mirrors etc lol)
Just got to get smooth front bumper sprayed, orderEd cleaner fog lights so should neaten the front end up a bit :)
Then will be lowering her a lil at the back. Just some nice seats and a nice steering wheel and it'll be on to the engine mods
-
Manual gearbox and lightened flywheel would be my next step if I wanted to make the most of the VR6.
-

Nah getting far to lazy couldn't be asked with gears again lol
Next step could be supercharging her :lipsrsealed:
-
Well im waiting for Shamstar to fit me in and get my smoothed front bumper sprayed and also the rear and smooth grill as theres a bit of flaking and cracks so want it sorted.
Might invest in some spacers as the wheels are a bit to tucked but not sure tbh :undecided:
Might be sticking some 312mm brakes up front (need to research see how hard it is)
and last but not least, superharging her is becoming more and more tempting but as the plan was to use this to save for a newer car im really not sure :undecided:
-
Couple of quick pics from today using my new foam maker for the karcher :)

Still gotta put Anni rear valance on then not much will be happening for a while as I need to save as I might b quoting my job and looking for something better (which won't b hard) :D
Im missing her has anyone seen her around? New owner had some purple Porsche splits on before he sold it few months ago? Reg ending YEF?
-
Well after nearly 2 years after selling her i finally have her back
This time with new wheels (which will be up for sale soon) and a remap
The car feels completey different and forgot how comfy the seats and armrest were
Will miss the vr (now for sale, needs some work) just not the petrol costs
a quick pic

Nothing major to update.
Looking for an FMIC, one that will fit nicely behind standard bumper.
Trying to go for stealth/ sleeper look ;)
