To get quotes i put similar postcode address detail in names and treid about 30 diff models was quite intersteing how much less golfs are than bmws to insure, the colour concept 8v is more than the 16v valve
scoobys are like 3 times a smucj as golfs 16v, 200sx is a third more and preludes ar ea lot more
the mx3 v6 vti civic and megane 20.16v gti 306 106 are all similar as is the a3 t sport 1.8t the same even with higher value, they seam good value on insurance, all these were fully comp
the mk2 16v is a bit  more a year than mk3 strange but l tpft its same as mk3 16v fully comp,
at least i know what i can afford now anyway, the vr6 is steep compered to 16v
ive been offered a p reg mx3 1.8 v6in black for good money not sure about them though a bit bland

Admiral are good for comparing but are on the high side i think.

I had my renewal notice from Admiral recently, they wanted £605. I got a quote from A-plan for £400. Thats on a mk2 16v fully comp. 3 years NCB, 6 points, i'm 26.

Try some more specialist companies like HIC, Brentacre, Greenlight or A-plan once you've narrowed down your selection.

Admiral were ok for me as a younger driver but never try and leave them before the end of your policy, they made life very difficult as they;re cancellation process is ridiculous.
