+1

Thom
i see your point most people ask this BUT doin inch welds or continous welds the panels pull ( warp ) like mad and that = alot more work and materials for the sake of such a small plate a few tacks is more than enough but each to our own we all have diffrent ways of goin about things
any ways moving on
sorry about the late reply with pictures guys to be honast im not totaly satasfied with it as for i got runs in 3 off the panels 2 bein doors and a quater but for my 1st ever repaint i dont think i done to bad im over the moon with my smoothing  but i can only inprove any ways

this is goin to UD and i dont think its goin to be totaly finished in time as for i havent got time to sort the 3 panels out i messed up but i tryed my best and it will get sorted out just after the show so im pretty annoyed about it but it will get sorted in good time
-
Looking sweet mate, did you paint the roof or vinyl? Your poor mk1 must be feeling a bit neglected isn't it?
-
i'd be impressed with that too be honest, just needs tge coillies and the new wheels now.
if you lived closer then i could get some advise on when am spraying my new shell
-
cheers guys it knocks your confidence abit but for my first repaint it will do :)
daz i painted the roof black mate aswell as the mirrors and grills ect ect lol realy inpressed witht the roof :)
i shall be cracking on with the golf again soon when i come to painting the shell on this one i shall know what to do diffrent this time so its all good im realy looking forward to it

Just curious... hope it doesn't sink
This car reminds me of the Storm Trooper car, which I see on a regular basis...
Thom
-
it wont sink lol it would if i hadnt welded the plates in and just glassed it STOP PICKIN ;) if i was puttin arches in or any sort of repair panel then yes more welds
theres a few leons to this sort of spec so i understand
-
Looks ace!.......... as said not to sure on the wheels and current ride height but hey, it's not your car.
-
Heres the current ride height
And yes a couple of people have said it reminds them of the Stoomtrooper one Jake did and sold .. mainly because thats white with black wheels too though and they dont make them in white..
Quite a few differences tho if you know your Leons.. ( Different shade of white, Mines got handles and rub strips smoothed , the front bumper number plate bit cut out and meshed, diff wheels etc etc..
-
scrubbingggg
-
Good god that is low.
-
i thourght this was the one @ ud! :O looks the nut's!!
-
Doesnt scrub as much as i thought it would ... And cheers, i guessed you saw it parked up out the way at UD lol
-
Fook me that's low, looks good though.
-
thats way too low mate but looks ace ( how low is it anyway :D )
-
have you put poppers on the rear doors or you open from inside ??
-
Just open from the inside pal.. They actually pop open if you just pull the handle inside and you dont have to physically try and push the door open so its all good
-
Not really on this forum much anymore  but may as well update it..

Hant updated in a while.. Not much progress other than I got offered a Fast Car Mag feature .. so i will now be doin a few things before i let them shoot it...
First off.. Debaffled my charge pipe..
The aftermath
Then reblacked my steering wheel where it had worn..
Oh, and i bought some new numberplate lights as mine where flashing and doin my head in.. These were £28 but hopefully much better.. ( and there so bloody bright!! :D )

And a random pic :)

Then it was time to pull my finger out and start thinking bout new seats and a retrim..
I went for Evo 6 Recaro seats.. Another 1st in a Leon i believe :smug:
These are just trial fitted and then will be coming out.. The rear seats, front seats, 4 doorcards and gear and handbrake gaiter are all going to be trimmed in the next couple of weeks..
Got bored and redone my strut brace...
This will also tie in with the interior colour ;)..
