My 1.8T has developed a flat spot when pulling away in 2nd/3rd etc.
Has anybody got any ideas what could be causing this and what was the remedy.

Probably your MAF sensor is faulty - I just had this replaced on my 1.8t under warranty and I still can't believe the difference it has made!
Alternatively you could try cleaning the current sensor but no guarantee of success.
