Wet carpet and leaking 'A Pillar'
« on: 16 February 2009, 17:51 »
Well it seems I've found ANOTHER niggle with the car....noticed wet front/rear drivers side footwells this morning

I've just bled the front door nipples and pipe cleanered the front sunroof holes, this removed a load of gunk from them so they're now draining nicely but for some reason on the drivers side there is also a dripping leak coming from where the roof lining meets the A pillar, this dribbles down the A pillar, down the dash and onto the floor so is obviously the source of the soaked carpet problem.

I'm going to assume the pipe might have come loose from a connector up there. Can anyone tell me how to remove the A pillar trim please so I can investigate ? Is there a guide to drop the roof lining anywhere ?

Also where are the rear sunroof bleed nipples ?  I cant get to the holes as they seem to be hidden behind the sunroof glass.

Sorry for all the Q's...I have searched !

The nipples are inside the door shut by the hinges of the door.

Yeah I've bleed/cleared out the front ones (just above hinges on front doors), but where are the rear ones for a 3 door ?

OK thanks. Has the bumper got to come off to reach them ?

Any ideas how to remove the A pillar time without breaking it ?

the A pillar pulls of its held by clips they are a little tight but pull carefully and it will unclip
and yep the rear bumper will have to be removed to reach the vents

Cool thanks, I managed to get it off without breaking anything !

I was expecting to see the fluid pipe beneath it but nothing. Tried pouring water through the sunroof drain hole again and it seems the actual leak is under the very corner of the roof lining so I guess I'm going to have to remove the grab handle, sun visor, central light etc and see if I can peel back the roof lining get to the 'issue' without having to drop the entire thing.

Those sun visors sound like a pig to get out !

sorry to dig up an old post but it just goes to show, i have used the search function ;) .
got in the car the other morning to find the drivers side A pillar soaking wet, seems to be coming in from the corner of the sunroof.  one of the first things i did when i got the car was clear the front drain pipes by the doors.  i overlooked the drain holes on the sunroof itself.
so probably answered my own question there...lol
i will check them in the morning..

Sounds like the sunroof drainage pipe may have come loose, you'll need to drop your roof lining to check.
