Brake dust on alloys??

Can anyone recommend an alloy wheel treatment or product (reasonably priced) that will prevent brake dust from sticking to my wheels?

I'm sick of buying "Wonder Wheels" and the like and having to apply two or three coats to get the baked on stuff off!!

I think Autoglym do a product that's suppose to stop it sticking. If you run drilled discs you're likely to be washing your wheels every weekend anyway

How come drilled sics are worse than none drilled ones for brake dust

because of the holes in the disc.. thats why you get more dust..

indeed, but the improvement in looks outweighs that

and the main reason they are drilled is to cool them down quicker..
same as vented disc's.

I know why they are drilled just never realised it would produce more dust.

And when my discs need doing i am going for drilled ones

the hole creates an inperfection in the layer of the disc. essentially you get an edge and the brake pad gets skimmed far more. the more dust you create the faster your wear the pads as well.

(for those who dont know)

the reason the holes get rid of heat quicker is because the cyclindrical hole in the disk has an area that is greater than the surface area of the disc that your removed to create the hole.

I polished my wheels with hard turtlewax polish from a tin and now the brake dust comes off very easily with a bit of work with an alloy whel brush i bought in halfords.  I never have to use wheel cleaner to get rid of it.

I seem to remember coming across a product you could buy that was a basically a dust guard that fitted on the inside of the wheel. Yes it does stop the dust, however, I think on the downside, you don't get to see the disc and caliper (which can be made to look very attractive) and I seem to remember that it could cause the brakes to run hotter (reduced cooling).
